When a person wishes to obtain further information about a word or phrase s/he encounters while reading some text, s/he likely goes through the following process: select the word, copy and paste it into the search box of a browser, and press search. Further, it becomes especially problematic in smartphones and tablets because these devices do not typically provide an easy way to select text.
We propose a tool called Linkify that specifically addresses this problem. Linkify detects words and phrases that a person is likely to be interested in and converts them into actionable links that, when clicked, pop up a tiny widget containing summarized information. Further, it intelligently infers what a user would like to see by utilizing the classes of the word.
